Suspicious Man With Binoculars Reported

• At 6:25 p.m. on Friday, police received a report of a man in a Champagne-colored vehicle on North Market Boulevard who was reportedly looking through binoculars at a house across the street. No arrests were made. 

Possible Vehicle Prowl Reported

• At 8:05 p.m. on Friday, police received a report of a man with a knife in his belt looking into cars in the 1600 block of Louisiana Avenue.

No Arrests in Domestic Disturbance

At 7:56 a.m. on Saturday, a domestic disturbance was reported in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street. No arrests were made. 

Two Arrested for DUI

• Jacob W. Stute, 29, of Chehalis, was arrested at 5:46 p.m. Saturday on suspicion of DUI near the intersection of Northwest State Avenue and Northwest Chamber Way in Chehalis.

• Hosein A. Reslmn, 32, of Happy Valley, Oregon, was arrested at 8:26 p.m. Saturday in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue.

Man Arrested for Allegedly Shoplifting, Possessing Drugs

• Nicholas E. Novion, 30, of Onalaska, was arrested at 6 p.m. Saturday in the 1600 block of Louisiana Avenue on suspicion of shoplifting $49.12 in merchandise. He was also booked on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and driving with a suspended license.

No Arrests after Reported Assault

• At 10:55 p.m. on Saturday, police received a report of three people in a fight in the 2600 block of Northeast Kresky Avenue. No arrests were made.

Woman Reportedly Jumps Out of Moving Vehicle

• At 3:58 p.m. on Sunday, police received a report of a woman allegedly jumping out of a moving vehicle in the 1500 block of North National Avenue in Chehalis.

No Arrests after Disturbance

• At 9:06 p.m. on Sunday, police received a report of a disturbance in the 100 block of Southwest Cascade Avenue.

 

Centralia Police Department

Prescription Medication Reported Stolen

• At 12:35 p.m. on Thursday, prescription pills were reported missing from a pill bottle on  Schueber Road.

Woman Arrested on Assault Charge

• Andrea Rosales Ortiz, 43, was arrested at 7:19 p.m. Thursday in the 1400 block of Harrison Avenue on suspicion of fourth-degree assault after a physical dispute with a man. The alleged victim had numerous scratch marks,  according to the Centralia Police Department.

Vehicle Prowls

• At 2:02 p.m. on Thursday, a ring was stolen from a parked car near Centralia College in the 600 block of Centralia College Boulevard. 

• At 7:02 a.m. on Friday, several vehicles were reportedly broken into in the 600 block of Nick Road.

• At 7:36 a.m. on Friday, a vehicle prowl was reported in the 1600 block of West Mellen Street.

• At 7:41 a.m. on Friday, a vehicle prowl was reported in the 1600 block of West Mellen Street.

• At 8:08 a.m. on Friday, three vehicles were reportedly broken into in the 800 block of Wayne Drive in Centralia.

• At 12:02 p.m. on Monday, a vehicle prowl was reported in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia. A check was reported stolen.

• At 3:47 a.m. on Tuesday, a vehicle prowl was reported in the 800 block of Rainier Avenue. Documents were reported stolen from a log truck.

Purse, Credit Cards Taken in Burglary

• At 8:30 a.m. on Friday, a burglary was reported in the 1700 block of Cooks Hill Road. The suspect allegedly entered through an unlocked window and took a purse containing credit cards and identification documents. No arrests were made.

Domestic Violence Assault Arrests

• Donovin E. Dual, 23, of Centralia, was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, at 10:11 a.m. Friday in the 1200 block of South Tower Avenue after he allegedly assaulted a former girlfriend after an argument. He was also charged Monday with unlawful imprisonment and malicious mischief.

• Anthony N. Shifflett, 35, of Centralia, was arrested at

7:18 p.m. Sunday on suspicion of fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, third-degree malicious mischief, domestic violence, and for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.

Caregiver Allegedly Steals Money

• At 12:59 p.m. on Friday, police received a report of a caregiver allegedly stealing money from a person’s bank account in the 2600 block of Eureka Avenue.

Drivers Arrested on Suspicion of DUI

• Alexis A. Rashoff, 41, of Rochester, was arrested at

3:18 a.m. Friday near the intersection of Marion and Gold streets on suspicion of DUI.

• Douglas V. Phelps, 47, was arrested on suspicion of DUI at 10:58 p.m. Friday near the intersection of Belmont and Harrison avenues. Officers stopped Phelps after a minor traffic infraction and then found evidence he was impaired, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Shawn T. Gammon, 41, of Centralia, was arrested on suspicion of DUI at 2:50 p.m. Saturday in the 700 block of South Silver Street after a three-vehicle accident.

• Mario D. Kimme, 26, of Centralia, was arrested on suspicion of DUI at 1:24 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of Harrison Avenue and Interstate 5.

Men Arrested on Suspicion of Robbery

• Willard Scott, 39, of Centralia, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree robbery at

2:14 p.m. Sunday in the 1400 block of Johnson Road. Scott allegedly tried to take a purse from a family member.

Man Cited for Mischief

• Derek J. Smith, 29, of Chehalis, was cited and released on suspicion of third-degree malicious mischief at 12:24 p.m. Monday in the 100 block of South Oak Street.

Sedan Flees Site of Accident

• A driver in a gold sedan fled the scene of an accident at 10:19 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Harrison and Belmont avenues.

 

Lewis County Sheriff’s Office

Flatscreen TV, Laptop, Piggy Bank Stolen in Burglary

• A 40-inch flatscreen TV, an HP laptop and a papier mache piggy bank containing $100 were reported stolen between Wednesday and Thursday in the 100 block of Linda Vista Road in Chehalis. 

Man Arrested for Physical Control DUI

• Steven W. Tower, 47, of Randle, was arrested at

11:18 a.m. Thursday in the 100 block of Burton Creek Road in Randle. Deputies responded at

9 p.m. to a possible dispute in the 9700 block of U.S. Highway 12 in Randle. They contacted a woman, who said Tower took her vehicle. She told deputies she didn’t want to report the car stolen, but wanted it back. Deputies found Tower in the car with the engine running and arrested him on suspicion of physical control DUI.

$1,000 in Cash Stolen in Burglary

• At 3:20 p.m. Thursday, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a burglary on June 25 in the 500 block of River Road in Centralia. The alleged victim reported a metal box containing documents and $1,000 in $100 dollar bills was missing from a bedroom. 

Nine Vehicle Prowls Reported in County

• Five vehicle prowls were reported between Wednesday and Thursday in the area of the 3000 block of Ives Road in Centralia. A Clarion stereo, driver’s license and two vehicle DVD players were reported stolen. The incidents are under investigation. 

• Four vehicle prowls were reported in the 400 block of Sandy Boulevard in Centralia on Thursday. A subwoofer and wallet were reported stolen.

Driver Has Suspended License, No Insurance in Mineral Hill Road Crash

• The driver of a 1989 Honda Prelude sustained minor injuries and was cited for driving with a suspended license, having expired vehicle registration and having no insurance after a single-vehicle accident at 6:20 p.m. Saturday in the 200 block of Mineral Hill Road. According to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office, the driver failed to negotiate a turn and drove off the road, leaving skid marks from all four tires. The driver was wearing a seat belt and was transported to Morton General Hospital with minor injuries. The Honda was heavily damaged.

 

Washington State Patrol

Two I-5 Crashes Caused by Following Too Closely

• A three-vehicle crash at 10:43 a.m. Sunday on Interstate 5  near milepost 81 in Centralia was caused by inattention and drivers following too closely, according to the Washington State Patrol. According to the WSP, a 1996 Chrysler Town and Country with 17-year-old male driver from Bothell was traveling northbound when it rear-ended a 2006 Subaru Forester driven by a 29-year-old Seattle man. The Chrysler then swerved into another lane and hit a third vehicle, a 2014 Volvo semi-trailer. A 28-year-old female passenger in the Subaru was injured and transported to Providence Centralia Hospital. The 17-year-old was cited by the WSP for following too closely.

• Less than two hours later, at 12:22 p.m. Sunday on I-5 at interstate 76 north of Chehalis, a second three-vehicle crash was also caused by following too closely, according to the WSP. A 2004 Chevrolet Suburban driven by a 46-year-old Pasco man was heading Northbound on the freeway when it rear-ended a 2011 Toyota Sienna driven by a 64-year-old Eugene, Oregon, man. The Toyota then rear-ended a third vehicle, a 1996 Honda Accord driven by a 19-year-old Edmonds woman. A passenger in the Honda, a 20-year-old Edmonds man, was injured and transported to Providence Centralia Hospital. The driver of the Chevrolet was cited for following too closely. 

Randle Driver Charged with Reckless Driving After Crash

• Dustin H. Gardner, 21, of Randle, was arrested at 4:30 p.m. Monday after a collision on state Route 12 4.7 miles west of Morton. According to a WSP report, Gardner was driving a 1993 Honda Civic west on state Route 12 when he rear-ended a 1995 Ford Mustang driven by a 48-year-old Morton driver. Both vehicles were totaled. Gardner was transported to Morton General Hospital. The crash was caused by inattention and speed, according to the WSP report.

Numerous Brush Fires Reported Friday Through Monday

• At 7:50 a.m. on Friday, a brush fire was reported in the 100 block of Hendrickson Road North in Vader.

• At 2:13 p.m. on Saturday, a brush fire was reported near the intersection of Ninth Street and Johnson Road in Centralia.

• At 10:08 p.m. on Saturday, a brush fire was reported in the 400 block of South First Street in Toledo.

• At 10:14 p.m. on Saturday, a brush fire was reported near the intersection of Kakela Road and state Route 505 in Winlock.

• At 10:42 p.m. on Saturday, a brush fire was reported near the intersection of Harmon and Sommerville roads in Chehalis.

• At 10:47 p.m. on Saturday, a brush fire was reported near the intersection of Cannon and Forest roads in Packwood.

• At 10:47 p.m. on Saturday, a brush fire was reported in the 1000 block of North Scheuber Road in Centralia.

• At 11:02 p.m. on Saturday, a brush fire was reported in the 1100 block of Riverside Road West in Chehalis.

• At 11:55 p.m. on Saturday, a brush fire was reported near the intersection of Fourth and Pearl Streets in Centralia.

• At 2:48 p.m. on Sunday, a brush fire was reported in the 1800 block of North Fork Road in Chehalis.

• At 3:39 p.m. on Sunday, a brush fire was reported in the 200 block of Southwest 15th Street in Chehalis

• At 4:13 p.m. on Sunday, a brush fire was reported in the 900 block of Big Hanaford Road in Centralia.

• At 4:55 p.m. on Sunday, a brush fire was reported near the intersection on Hankin Road in Toledo.

• At 1:43 p.m. on Monday, a brush fire was reported in the 2000 block of Southbank Road in Centralia.

• At 6:23 p.m. on Monday, a brush fire was reported in the 400 block of North Ash Street in Centralia

Structure Fire Reported Near Boistfort

• At 4:56 p.m. on Friday, a residential structure fire was reported in the 100 block of Moon Hill Road. Lewis County Fire District 13 responded to the call. No further information was available as of press time.

Napavine Fire Damages Garage

• At 6:51 p.m. on Sunday, a garage was damaged in a structure fire in the 300 block of Forest Napavine Road East. The fire did not spread to surrounding structures.

Car Fire Cause Undetermined

• Riverside Fire Authority crews responded at 1:10 p.m. Monday to reports of a vehicle fire in the 2600 block of Cooks Hill Road in Centralia. Upon arrival, they found two vehicles on fire. The fire started in the engine compartment of a Ford Expedition and spread to a second vehicle parked nearby. The expedition was totaled. Both vehicles were uninsured. The cause of the fire is undetermined, but the fire likely started near the Expedition’s battery, according to the RFA.

Structure Fire Reported Near Napavine

At 6:03 p.m. on Monday, a commercial structure fire was reported in the 200 block of state Route 12 in Napavine. Firefighters found a light that had overheated. No damage was reported.

Structure Fire Reported in Toledo

• At 5:17 a.m. on Tuesday, a residential structure fire was reported in the 300 block of Howe Road in Toledo.
