Sirens: Handgun Lost at Restaurant, Then Stolen; Caller Says Someone Entered House, Used Bathroom

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Vehicle Prowls

• At 12:35 p.m. Monday, two vehicle prowls were reported in the 300 block of Linda Lane. Multiple items were taken.

• At 8:43 p.m. Tuesday, a vehicle prowl was reported in the 1400 block of View Avenue. Someone stole some clothing items.

 

Thefts

• At 1:20 p.m. Monday, police went to the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue, where a male subject left a store with stolen deli items, and was last spotted running away from the area.

• At 3:27 p.m. Monday, police were dispatched to the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue where a female subject left without paying for deli items.

• At 6:05 p.m. Tuesday, a theft of a pair of shoes was reported from a retail store in the 1300 block of Lum Road. A male suspect entered the store wearing a pair of slippers, and left wearing a new pair of Nikes.

 

Suspect Damages Washing Machine, Takes Coins

• At 2:38 p.m. Monday, a caller in the 1000 block of North Scheuber Road reported someone damaged a coin-operated washing machine and took the change inside.

 

Suspect Arrested, Released After Trespassing, Berating Individuals

• At 6:52 p.m. Monday, police responded to the 600 block of Harrison Avenue and arrested and released a 28-year-old transient man on suspicion of criminal trespass, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after he allegedly went to a business where he had previously been trespassed and started to berate the staff.

 

Rochester Man Referred for Alleged Protection Order Violation

• At 12:05 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to the 100 block of Maple Street and referred a 65-year-old Rochester man to the Centralia Prosecutor’s Office on suspicion of violating a protection order.

 

Caller Reports Phone Scam

• At 12:32 p.m. Tuesday, a caller in the 3100 block of Borst Avenue reported someone called claiming to be from Apple Inc., wanting access to the person’s computer. Police said this is a scam, and that no one should allow access to any electronic device over the phone.

 

Handgun Lost at Restaurant, Then Stolen

• At 1:47 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to the 900 block of Harrison Avenue, where a person said a Glock pistol was lost at a local restaurant and then stolen.

 

Suspect Booked for Probation Violation

• At 6:05 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to the 100 block of West Maple Street and arrested Tyler J. Carbaugh, 28, of Rochester on suspicion of DUI probation violation.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Vehicle Destroys Fence Overnight

• At 8:08 a.m. Monday, a caller in the 2500 block of Northeast Kresky Avenue reported someone drove a vehicle into a chain link fence overnight, leaving a lot of debris behind.

 

Vehicle Theft Reported

• At 11:46 a.m. Monday, a theft of a black 2003 Dodge Ram was reported in the 2100 block of North National Avenue.

 

Group of People Causing Problems Outside Bank

• At 3:27 p.m. Monday, a group of about five people were spotted yelling and causing  disturbance by a bank’s outdoor ATM in the 400 block of North Market Boulevard.

 

Caller Believes Someone Entered House, Used Bathroom

• At 10:11 p.m. Monday, a caller in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street reported finding a broken bracelet in their bathroom that wasn’t there before. The caller said they had been gone for about 45 minutes, and the door was unlocked.

 

Burglary Suspect Booked

• At 2:14 a.m. Tuesday, police responded to the 600 block of Northwest Quincy Place and arrested Kevin W. Harris, 39, of Chehalis on suspicion of second-degree burglary.

 

Theft

• At 12:20 p.m. Tuesday, a theft of pills was reported in the 300 block of South Market Boulevard.

 

Caller Reports Suspected Meth Use

• At 3:41 p.m. Tuesday, a caller in the 1300 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue reported a couple people smoking from a pipe of what appeared to be methamphetamine.

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 230 inmates, with 199 in general population, 29 in the work ethic and restitution center and two on work release. Of general population inmates, 163 were male and 36 were female and of WERC inmates, 24 were male and five were female. A total of 28 inmates were booked through contracts outside Lewis County.
