Sirens: Four Cited After Report of Fighting in Public, Off-Duty Officer Detains Shoplifting Suspect, Corrections Deputy Assaulted

Teen Booked on Pot Charge

• At 11:11 a.m. on Friday, police responded to the 900 block of Johnson Road and arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of possession of marijuana. 

Rochester Suspect Arrested on Weapon Charge

• At 1:02 p.m. on Friday, police responded to an area near the intersection of Silver Street and Centralia College Boulevard to a report of a threat with a weapon. Peter R. A. Anderson, 21, of Rochester, was arrested on suspicion of unlawfully displaying a weapon. He was accused of “holding a knife in an alarming manner,” in response to a dispute between his girlfriend and another man, according to police.  

Harassment Over Dog Reported

• At 5:59 p.m. on Friday, police responded to a dispute in the 500 block of North Iron Street. Justin M. Dubay, 23, of Centralia, was arrested on suspicion of felony harassment. He was accused of threatening to kill someone “over a dispute involving the ownership of a dog,” according to police. 

Assault Suspect Arrested

• At 9:25 p.m. on Friday, police responded to a report of an assault in the 700 block of Harrison Avenue. Gregorio Cordero, 28, of Centralia, was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree assault. He was accused of scratching a woman during a dispute. 

Man Reports Assault

• At 8:10 p.m. on Friday, police received a report of an assault in the 300 block of Lowe Street. A man reported he was assaulted by multiple known suspects. No arrests were made. 

Suspect Cited on Obstruction Charge

• At 11:57 p.m. on Friday, police responded to the 600 block of West Main Street after receiving a report of a suspicious vehicle. Deymen Florez-Martinez, 24, of Centralia, was cited on suspicion of obstructing a public servant. 

No Contact Order Violated

• At 10:49 a.m. on Saturday, a woman in the 400 block of West Sixth Street reported a no contact order was violated. The case is under investigation.  

Assault Between Roommates Under Investigation

• At 11:57 p.m. on Saturday, police responded to the 800 block of K Street to a report of a dispute among four roommates. The case is under investigation.  

Four Cited After Report of Fighting in Public

• At 12:57 p.m. on Saturday, police responded to a report of four men fighting in the street near the intersection of Main and Gold streets. Before police arrived, three of the men left in a vehicle. Officers found the vehicle a few blocks away and arrested Nicholas L. Gonzalez, 27, on suspicion of driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license, driving without an ignition interlock and fighting in public and Jesus D. Montano, 40, of Centralia, was cited and released for fighting in public. Esteban A. Vasquez III, 34, of Rochester, was cited for making a false or misleading statement and Andrez Velasquez, 26, of Chehalis was cited for making a false or misleading statement and possession of a dangerous weapon. 

Burglary to Garage Reported

• At 6:01 p.m. on Saturday, a burglary was reported to a garage in the 2200 block of North Pearl Street. 

Suspect Cited on Alcohol Theft Charge

• At 7:15 p.m. on Saturday, police responded to a theft of alcohol reported in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue. Darrin N. D. Rice, 19, of Centralia, was cited on suspicion of third-degree theft.  

Threats Reported

• At 5:13 p.m. on Sunday, police received a report of threats in the 1700 block of Harrison Avenue. A man and woman reported they were threatened by two men in a truck as they were walking along the road. 

Chehalis Police Department

Burglaries Reported

• At 3 p.m. on Friday, police received a report of a burglary in the 900 block of Southwest William Avenue. A suspect broke locks on a shop. Tools were stolen. 

• At 6 p.m. on Saturday, police received a report of a possible burglary in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street. A door lock was broken but no items were reported stolen. 

Accused Shoplifter Arrested on Charges of Burglary, Drug Possession

• At 5:55 p.m. on Friday, police responded to a report of a shoplifter in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. The suspect had reportedly previously been banned from the store. Ronda L. Teshera, 48, of Centralia, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree burglary and possession of methamphetamine. 

Off-Duty Officer Detains Shoplifting Suspect

• At 9:26 p.m. on Friday, police responded to a report of a woman using a tool to remove security devices on merchandise at a store in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana. According to the Chehalis Police Department, an off-duty officer detained the woman until other officers arrived. Suspect Julie C. Ritchey, 33, of Tumwater, was arrested on suspicion of third-degree theft and resisting arrest. She was accused of taking $474.13 in merchandise.  

Trespassers Reported

• At 2:25 a.m. on Saturday, police received a report of a trespasser in the 600 block of West Main Street. 

• At 9:51 a.m. on Saturday, a trespasser was reported in the 600 block of West Main Street. 

• At 7:50 p.m. on Saturday, police received a report of a trespasser trying to fraudulently return a pair of pants to a store in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. 

• At 10:03 p.m. on Saturday, a trespasser was reported in the 600 block of West Main Street. 

Woman Reports Assault Between Children

• At 6:29 p.m. on Saturday, police received a report of an assault between children on Southwest 12th Street. A mother reported a neighbor kid threw a crate at her daughter and hit her in the face. 

Woman Referred on Charge for Assault on Health Care Worker

• At 3:07 p.m. on Saturday, police responded with an emergency medical crew to the 900 block of Southeast Adams Avenue. A 31-year-old Chehalis woman allegedly assaulted a health care worker. She is being referred to deputies on suspicion of third-degree assault. 

Marijuana Found in Teen’s Belongings at Juvenile Facility

• At 8:11 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to the Lewis County Juvenile Detention facility in the 1200 block of Southwest Pacific Avenue after getting a report that marijuana was found in a boy’s possessions when he was booked into the facility.

Corrections Deputy Assaulted

• At 8 p.m. on Sunday, deputies responded to the Lewis County Jail after getting a report that a corrections deputy had been assaulted by an inmate. The victim reportedly had a minor scratch to his left cheek. The suspect, Wendy K. Nelson, 40, of Morton, was rebooked on a new charge of third-degree assault. According to jail records, Nelson is also being held on a contempt of court charge out of Mossyrock. 

Lewis County Jail Statistics

• As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 232 inmates, with 198 in general population and 34 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center. Of general population inmates, 160 were male and 38 were female and of WERC inmates 29 were male and five female. A total of 29 inmates were booked through contracts with agencies outside Lewis County.
