Sirens: Child, 10, Arrested on Assault Charge; Drivers Booked on DUI Charges After Crashes

Centralia Police Department

• At 9:10 a.m. on Thursday, police responded to a report of an assault by a 10-year-old child in the 800 block of Field Avenue. The boy was already on juvenile probation in an assault case. He was accused of assaulting three staff members. He was booked into the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center. 

 

Teen Booked on Marijuana Charge

• At 9:59 a.m. on Thursday, a 14-year-old boy was arrested in the 900 block of Johnson Road on suspicion of possession of marijuana. He reportedly brought it to school. The teen was booked into the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center. 

 

Man Steals Alcohol

• At 10:03 a.m. on Thursday, a shoplifter was reported stealing alcohol in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue. No arrests were made. 

 

Vape Smoking Device Stolen

• At 3:53 p.m. on Thursday, an electric vape smoking device was reported stolen from the 600 block of Harrison Avenue. 

 

Burglary

• At 7:13 p.m. on Thursday, a second-degree burglary was reported in the 400 block of West Center Street. 

 

Man Sent Summons for Alleged Assault on Neighbor

• At 8:52 p.m. on Thursday, police responded to a report of an assault in the 1300 block of Harrison Avenue. A 65-year-old Centralia man was sent a court summons for a fourth-degree assault charge for allegedly pushing a neighbor.

Trespassers Reported

• At 7:54 a.m. on Wednesday, a trespasser was reported in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue. No arrests were made.

• At 8:50 a.m. on Wednesday, a trespasser was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. No arrests were made.

• At 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday, a trespasser was reported in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard.

• At 6:13 p.m. on Thursday, a trespasser was reported in the 100 block of Northwest Chehalis Avenue. 

 

Burglary

• At 9:58 a.m. on Wednesday, a burglary was reported in the 1700 block of North National Avenue. 

 

Scam Reported

• At 10:49 a.m. on Thursday, police received a report of a scam text in the 300 block of Southeast Washington Avenue. 

 

Shoplifters Reported

• At 4:36 p.m. on Thursday, a shoplifter was reported in the 1200 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. No arrests were made. 

• At 5:06 p.m. on Thursday, police responded to a report of a trespasser in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. Vernita Worthy-Hernandez, 42, of Centralia, was arrested on suspicion of third-degree theft. She was accused of stealing $114.05 in merchandise. 

 

Vehicle Stolen

• At 4:54 p.m. on Thursday, a vehicle was reported stolen in the 800 block of West Main Street. No further information was reported.

 

Assault Suspect Arrested

• At 11:56 p.m. on Thursday, police responded to a report of an assault in the 400 block of Southwest William Avenue. Zachary B. Eastman, 25, of Chehalis, was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree assault, domestic violence. 

 

Lewis County Sheriff’s Office

Drivers Booked on DUI Charges After Crashes

• At 4:50 p.m. on Wednesday, deputies responded to a report of a crash in the 3800 block of Jackson Highway in Chehalis. Stefan N. Johnson, 23, of Chehalis, was driving a 2002 Ford Mustang which suffered major damage after crashing into a ditch. Johnson was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. 

• At 9:46 p.m. on Wednesday, deputies responded to a report of a crash near the intersection of Forest Napavine Road and Forest Lane. A 2013 Dodge Journey hit a 1989 Chevrolet truck parked on the side of the road. Driver Racheal J. Johnson, 30, of Chehalis, was arrested on suspicion of DUI. 

 

Suspects Arrested on Drug Charges After Traffic Stops

• At 12:27 p.m. on Wednesday, deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of Salkum Road in Salkum and arrested Richard F. Kelly, 57, of Salkum, on suspicion of third-degree driving with a suspended license and possession of methamphetamine. 

• At 2:41 a.m. on Thursday, deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue and arrested Asham Kaem, 31, of Spanaway, on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and third-degree driving with a suspended license. 

• At 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, deputies conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Forest Napavine and Estep roads in Napavine and arrested Evan L. Crosby, 40, of Winlock on suspicion of driving with a suspended license and possession of methamphetamine. 

 

Suspect Arrested for Warrant, Drugs

• At 10:40 p.m. on Thursday, police responded to a report of a suspect wanted on a state Department of Corrections warrant in the area of Southeast Spring Street in Chehalis. Patrick Ashley, 40, of Chehalis was arrested on the warrant and on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine. 

 

Truck Stolen

• At 10:54 p.m. on Thursday, a 1994 Acura Integra was reported stolen in the 700 block of Independence Road in Rochester. 

 

Lewis County Jail

• As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 218 inmates with 184 in general population, 31 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center and three on work release. Of general population inmates, 145 were male and 39 were female and of WERC inmates, 25 were male and six female. A total of 26 inmates were booked through contracts with agencies outside Lewis County.
