Sirens: Burglar Tries Twice to Break Into Residence, Woman Booked Under Suspicion of Mischief, Suspect Tries Picking Fight with Restaurant’s Cook

Thefts

• At 8:44 a.m. Friday, a theft of cash was reported in the 1300 block of Alexander Street.

• At 2:06 p.m. Friday, two female suspects stole clothes from a retail store in the 1300 block of Lum Road and ran before police got there.

• At 3:14 p.m. Friday, a theft of a cellphone was reported in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue.

• At 4:08 p.m. Friday, an attempted theft of candy from a store was reported in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue.

• At 4:29 p.m. Friday, a theft of two bikes was reported in the 600 block of G Street.

• At 1:54 a.m. Saturday, a theft of a 2002 Chrysler 300M was reported in the 200 block of North Railroad Avenue.

Theft Suspect Booked

• At 10:53 a.m. Friday, police responded to the 1300 block of Lum Road and arrested Amanda C. Khen, 26, of Federal Way on suspicion of third-degree theft.

 Burglar Tries Twice to Break Into Residence

• At 1:14 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 1300 block of Alexander Street where a person had tried twice to enter a residence.

Debit Card Used for Fraudulent Purchase

• At 1:32 p.m. Friday, a person in the 1300 block of Lum Road reported that they lost their debit card, and it was later used to make a purchase at a retail store.

Suspects Arrested and Released for Suspended License

• At 6:35 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 1000 block of Harrison Avenue and arrested and released Deborah A. Hayes, 62, of Centralia on suspicion of third-degree driving with a suspended license.

• At 11:19 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 1200 block of Mellen Street and arrested and released Larry E. Ridenour II, 37, of Centralia on suspicion of third-degree driving with a suspended license.

Police Arrest DUI Suspect

• At 6:58 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue and arrested Steven D. Thoreson, 48, of Olympia on suspicion of third-degree driving under the influence. 

Woman Booked Under Suspicion of Mischief

• At 9:53 a.m. Friday, police responded to the 1400 block of Johnson Road and arrested Ashley R.M. Mathus, 28, of Centralia on suspicion of third degree malicious mischief.

 

Man Arrested for Heroin Possession, Warrant

• At 2:53 p.m. Saturday, police responded to Harrison Avenue and M Street and arrested Daniel J. Alvarado, 30, of Centralia on suspicion of possession of heroin and on a Centralia Municipal Court warrant.

Police Arrest Suspect for Meth Possession

• At 11:52 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue and arrested Loren W. Paul, 51, of Fife on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine. 

Crash Leads to Injury and Arrest

• At 1:23 a.m. Sunday, police responded to the 700 block of North Tower Avenue and arrested Karen L. Soto, 23, of Centralia on suspicion of driving under the influence after a collision that totaled two vehicles and injured a passenger in Soto’s vehicle.

Vehicle Hits Building, Driver Booked for DUI

• At 3:58 p.m. Sunday, police responded to the 500 block of South Tower Avenue and arrested Lonnie W. Engel, 61, of Centralia on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, after Engel allegedly struck a grocery store with his vehicle

Man Arrested For Allegedly Being Belligerent in Hospital

• At 6:04 a.m. Monday, police responded to the 900 block of South Scheuber Road and arrested Michael G. Boone, 44, a transient, on suspicion of interfering with a healthcare facility. 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Person Behind Wheel Not Responsive

• At 12:03 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue where a caller said a man had been sitting in a vehicle for the past 45 minutes, with an open beer, and wasn’t responsive to knocks on the window.

Caller Reports Assault

• At 12:48 p.m. Saturday, a caller in the 1900 block of South Market Boulevard reported an assault.

Stranger Grabs Caller’s Arm Forcefully

• At 4:41 p.m. Saturday, a caller in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue reported a female subject grabbed their arm forcefully while in line at Walmart. 

Man Seen Trying Car Doors in Walmart Parking Lot

• At 6:45 p.m. Saturday, police were dispatched to the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue, where a male subject was seen trying to open doors of multiple vehicles in a parking lot.

Suspect Tries Picking Fight with Restaurant’s Cook

• At 7:57 p.m. Saturday, a caller in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue reported a disorderly man inside a bar area, trying to pick a fight and making customers nervous.

Theft

• At 7:35 p.m. Saturday, a theft of $260 in cash was reported in the 300 block of South Market Boulevard.

Suspect Stops Female Subject From Walking Away

• At 11:23 p.m. Saturday, a caller in the 700 block of South Market Boulevard reported a male subject and a female subject were yelling at each other. The woman kept trying to walk away, the caller said, only for the man to lay hands on her to stop her. 

Someone Smashes Car Window With Brick

• At 7:17 a.m. Sunday, police were alerted that someone used a brick to smash the window of a car in the 10 block of Southwest First Street. Nothing was stolen. 

Suspect Seen Driving Around Stealing Mail

• At 10:09 a.m. Sunday, a caller in the 2000 block of Southwest Salsbury Avenue reported someone was driving around and taking mail from people’s mailboxes.

Man Arrested on Suspicion of Possessing Stolen Vehicle

• At 10:14 a.m. Sunday, police responded to the 10 block of Southwest Ninth Street and arrested Tyler A. Sellards, 18, of Chehalis on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle.

Alleged Shoplifters Arrested

• At 2:05 p.m. Sunday, police responded to the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue and arrested Heidi A. Johnston, 38, of Morton on suspicion of third-degree theft.

• At 7:35 p.m. Sunday, police responded to the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue and arrested Brigitte F. Thurber, 58, of Battle Ground on suspicion of third-degree theft.

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 224 inmates, with 187 in general population, 36 in the work ethic and restitution center and one on work release. Of general population inmates, 142 were male and 45 were female and of WERC inmates, 31 were male and five were female. A total of 29 inmates were booked through contracts outside Lewis County.
