A Morton man accused of threatening his neighbors this week was reportedly found with a “homemade” automatic weapon and equipment to make a silencer, according to court documents.

Joel C. Alicki, 46, of Morton, was charged Thursday in Lewis County Superior Court with harassment — threat to kill, and two counts of possession of an unlawful firearm, both class C felonies.

Alicki was granted $50,000 bail. His next hearing is scheduled for July 19.

According to court documents and the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the 200 block of Bellicum Road in Morton Wednesday after getting a report of harassment.

A resident reported that Alicki threatened to kill them because they called Child Protective Services to complain about him in the past.

The alleged victim made a recording of what Alicki said, according to court documents, confirming the report. Alicki seemed to be intoxicated at the time, deputies reported.

The allegedly victim also reported hearing gunshots after the threats and “bullets were heard heading in their direction,” according to court documents.

“Because of this, they went inside to seek cover from the gunfire,” according to court documents.

Surveillance footage also reportedly showed Alicki walking on his property holding a rifle.

Deputies contacted Alicki, who denied making threats. During a search, deputies found “several rifles with barrel lengths under 18 inches, specifically (an) SKS rifle and a Ruger 10/22,” according to court documents.

Short-barreled rifles at less than 16 inches are not legal in Washington. Deputies also reported finding materials used to make a silencer. The use of silencers is also not legal in Washington.

Deputies also noted a “homemade firearm that appeared to be fully automatic,” according to court documents.
