The body of a Centralia woman reported missing on Aug. 18 was found east of Newport, Oregon on Friday.

Chrystal D. Chipman, 47, was found deceased several miles from her vehicle, which was parked in a wooded area and located by a logger. There were no obvious signs of trauma to the body, states a press release from the Centralia Police Department.

According to Centralia Police Detective John Panco, after police received the missing person report on Aug. 18, they flagged the vehicle Chipman was believed to be driving — a white 2013 Ford F150 pickup truck — as being associated with a missing person.

Additionally, Panco said they had received information that Chipman may have been in the coastal region of Oregon.

A post on the police department’s Facebook page with Chipman’s picture and a picture of her truck was shared by more than 200 users. The post also indicated that Chipman had a history of medical issues that required medication.

A logger working in a wooded area just east of Newport — a town on Oregon’s coast southwest of Portland and more than 200 miles from Centralia — found the truck. A responding Lincoln County Deputy located the truck, and after a scan of the plate, found it was associated with a missing person case.

A press release posted on the department’s Facebook page Monday morning stated Chipman was found by a Lincoln County Deputy several miles away from the truck. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office then contacted Centralia authorities.

A search was conducted of the area.

“There’s no sign of trauma, no signs of any suspicious activity going on,” said Panco.

Further investigation hinges mainly on Lincoln County authorities in Oregon. Panco said it’s up to the Lincoln County Coroner’s Office whether or not an autopsy is conducted. After that, the body would be released to family.

A Facebook page set up to spread the word of Chipman’s disappearance was repurposed to memorialize her, with family and friends sharing photos and messages of condolences.
