More than 300 Centralia City Light Customers Affected by Overnight Power Outage

About 325 Centralia City Light customers woke up to flashing clocks and rebooted cable boxes Monday morning following an overnight power outage that lasted nearly four hours.

According to M.L. Norton, a large maple tree broke and fell through a power line along 6th Street south of the Skookumchuck River. The incident happened at 1:56 a.m. and crews restored power to most affected customers by 5:42 a.m.

Norton said a couple of customers suffered some damage to their service connections or their transformers, but that there was no lingering or lasting damage caused by the tree. It was the third outage suffered by City Light customers in the past month, but the first not caused by Bonneville Power Administration equipment.
