Kelso Woman Charged With Making False Rape Report in Lewis County

A Kelso woman has been charged in Lewis County Superior Court with making a false accusation of rape because she was “embarrassed” about participating in a threesome, according to court documents.

Angela R. Lovelace, 38, made her first appearance in Lewis County Superior Court Tuesday on one charge of malicious prosecution, a class C felony. She appeared out of custody in response to a summons and was released on $5,000 unsecured bail pending further court hearings.

According to court documents, Deputies with the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office received a report on April 2 of a rape.  Lovelace and another woman reported to Cowlitz County authorities that they had been raped by the same man and that they had obtained sexual assault evidence kits.

Lewis County deputies interviewed the man that day, and he told them he had consensual sexual encounters with the women on one occasion in late March. Deputies contacted the second woman, who reportedly admitted the encounter was consensual.

Deputies then contacted Lovelace, who again reported that the encounter was not consensual, saying the man threatened them.

However, Lovelace “eventually admitted that she made up the entire story about being raped because she was embarrassed about being involved in a threesome,” according to court documents.
