A jury found Johnny Roach, a Lewis County man who along with his wife was charged with raping a minor, guilty Thursday of a single count of second-degree rape of a child.

A hearing was scheduled for May 30 to schedule a date when Roach, 19, will be sentenced. A co-defendant in the case, Seirah L. Daniels, 20, pleaded guilty to the same offense earlier this month. Her sentencing date is scheduled to be set the same day as Roach.

According to court documents, the victim told authorities she was with Daniels when Roach started to touch her sexually. Daniels seemed to encourage the behavior, she said. She was 12 at the time.

She said both Roach and Daniels held her down while she was raped.

In an interview with deputies, Daniels allegedly said she recalled that Roach had sex with the girl, saying “we were playing dirty truth or dare and they had sex,” according to court documents.

Roach has been held in the Lewis County Jail since Jan. 31 on $100,000 bail.

The jury trial began Monday and concluded with a guilty verdict Thursday.

According to a guilty plea form Daniels signed, attorneys will recommend a sentence within a standard sentencing range of 95 to 125 months.

Senior Deputy Prosecutor Will Halstead said a presentencing investigation was ordered following the guilty verdict, to determine the most appropriate sentence to be imposed on Roach.
