A Castle Rock driver was cited for driving too fast in icy conditions after a four-vehicle crash Friday on U.S. Highway 12 near Mossyrock.

Hazel F. Waldo, 74, of Castle Rock, was driving east at 10:38 a.m. on U.S. Highway 12 at milepost 84, one mile west of Mossyrock when her 2004 Ford F-150 truck lost control on ice, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Waldo’s truck entered the westbound lane and collided with a second vehicle, a red 1996 Ford F-350 truck driven by Riley B. Overby, 21, of Toledo. Neither driver was injured. Both trucks were totaled.

The second truck then went into the eastbound lane, striking a third vehicle, a 2010 Toyota Camry driven by Phoebe H. Young, 83, of Richland. Young was injured and transported to Morton General Hospital. Her Toyota was totaled.

The second truck stopped on the centerline and was struck by a fourth vehicle, a westbound 2006 Chrysler 300C driven by Colleen D. Littlejohn, 44, of Glenoma. Littlejohn was not injured, but her car was also totaled.

Waldo was cited for driving too fast for conditions.
