A Centralia man wanted on a felony state Department of Corrections warrant escaped detection by crawling under a semi and hitching a ride Friday, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.
On Friday, the Sheriff’s Office received a report of suspicious activity at Gee Cee’s Truck Stop, in the 100 block of Foster Creek Road in Toledo, and a report of trespassing in the 100 block of Herriford Road in Toledo.
At 1:26 p.m. on Friday, deputies responded to Herriford Road, where a 51-year-old from Toledo said two people drove onto his property and left after getting their vehicle stuck.
The suspects, a man and woman, were later located at the truck stop.
The man reportedly lied about his name, then fled deputies. The woman reportedly would not give the man’s name, but said he had a warrant.
Deputies eventually learned the man’s name is Ruben A. Inman, 25, of Centralia, who is wanted on a DOC warrant.
Deputies called a K9 unit to help find the man, but before they started the track, a truck driver reported that he saw Inman crawl under a semi, and when the semi pulled away from the truck stop, Inman was gone.
Deputies used credit card information to find the truck Inman allegedly escaped on, and officers stopped the truck in Arlington. Inman was no longer in the truck, but the driver reportedly found his baseball cap.
Deputies are unsure where Inman was able to get off the truck. No new charges are pending at this time, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
