WSDOT warns to expect delays on U.S. Highway 12 in Lewis County

Travelers who use U.S. Highway 12 in Lewis County should plan for lane closures and delays, a recent Washington state Department of Transportation (WSDOT) news release stated.

On Thursday, May 28, the WSDOT maintenance crews will repair and replace traffic sensors along both directions of U.S. 12 about 10 miles west of Mossyrock.

Traffic sensors are devices placed in the travel lanes that count vehicles, track speeds, measure vehicle sizes, and show when traffic is busiest. This information helps plan future road repairs and improvements to keep travelers safe and moving, according to the release.

Travelers in both directions of U.S. 12 near Salkum Heights Road at milepost 77.78 will take turns moving through one open lane at a time from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Flaggers will direct travelers through the area. Travelers should slow down, stay focused and follow flaggers instructions through the work zone. This work is weather dependent and may be rescheduled.
