World-Renowned Pianist, Centralia Native Charlie Albright to Return for Holiday Performance at Centralia College

World-renowned pianist and Centralia College graduate Charlie Albright will perform a fundraising holiday concert for the Centralia College Foundation at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 18 in the Corbet Theatre on the Centralia College campus.

Albright will perform holiday favorites and include time for improvisation.

Albright regularly appears at major concert halls, festivals and with artists of all genres, according to the news release.

He last performed at Centralia College in 2017.

“Charlie Albright breaks the ‘classical’ rules of music by connecting with audiences like no other. Through his music, speaking and unique improvisations, he crosses all genres … and makes it fun,” Centralia College stated in a news release.

Born in Centralia, Albright began piano lessons at the age of 3. He studied with Nancy Adsit and earned an associate of science degree at Centralia College while still in high school, according to a news release from Centralia College.

Albright was the first classical pianist in the Harvard College/New England Conservatory five-year AB/MM joint program, completing a bachelor’s degree as an economics major and pre-med student at Harvard and a master of music degree in piano performance at New England Conservatory, having studied with Wha-Kyung Byun. He graduated with the prestigious artist diploma from The Juilliard School, having studied with Yoheved Kaplinsky.

A firm believer in education, Albright founded the Charlie Albright Scholarship and Charlie Albright Piano Fund in collaboration with the Centralia College Foundation.

The scholarship provides scholarships to music students, and money was raised to purchase and maintain the 9-foot Steinway piano for the college’s Corbet Hall.

Tickets for the Nov. 18 performance are $40 for reserved general admission. A limited number of VIP reception tickets with Albright are also available for $75. All proceeds benefit student scholarships and the Charlie Albright Piano Fund.
