Work Continues to Install New Electric Vehicle Charging Stations on U.S. Highway 12

Construction workers from Resound Energy, LLC out of Bothell are working on the installation of two new electric vehicle (EV) charging units next to the Salkum Timberland Library on U.S. Highway 12.

The charging station, which is expected to open later this year, will be one of eight new EV charging stations currently being installed in a network along the White Pass Scenic Byway on U.S. Highway 12. Other locations include Chehalis, Mossyrock, Morton, Elbe, Randle, Packwood and White Pass.

The project is a collaboration among Energy Northwest, the Lewis County Public Utility District and Twin Transit, with support from the White Pass Scenic Byway organization, Benton REA and surrounding community members, according to a news release. While Resound Energy, LLC was awarded the construction contract, JSA Civil, LLC, out of Tumwater, is the main engineering firm.

Energy Northwest is a Washington state joint operating agency with one of the largest clean energy generation portfolios in the region and has been expanding EV infrastructure throughout the state since 2016, according to the release.

The eight EV charging stations are expected to be open this year and will be located at:

• White Pass: 48935 U.S. Highway 12, White Pass Ski Area

• Packwood: 13053 U.S. Highway 12, Tatoosh Market



• Randle: 9802 U.S. Highway 12

• Morton: Arbor Health — Morton Clinic, 531 Adams Ave.

• Elbe: 54106 Mountain Highway East, Mt. Rainier Railroad Dining

• Mossyrock: 748 Williams St., Mossy Mini

• Salkum: 2480 U.S. Highway 12, Salkum Library

• Chehalis: 172 U.S. Highway 12 at Interstate 5 Exit 68, Petro America
