Thanks to a 22-point spree in the first eight minutes on Friday night, the Black Hills High School girls basketball team secured a 55-35 victory over Centralia at home in Evergreen Conference action.
A balanced night offensively gave the Wolves (7-6, 1-3 EvCo) their first win in the league and they’ve won two of three following a five-game skid. They hauled in 45 rebounds, 22 of them came on the offensive glass.
Sophomore Natalie Buchanan notched a 14-point, 11-rebound double-double while Ellie Johnson chipped in 11 points and nine boards. Black Hills will play its penultimate home game on Tuesday against Aberdeen.
Centralia (5-9, 0-4) was led by 11 points by Maddie Ahern and 10 courtesy of Mackenzie Erickson. The Tigers will face their arch rival in W.F. West on Tuesday, the first of two Swamp Cup meetings.
