The Black Hills boys basketball team gave itself a massive early boost in the EvCo standings on Friday, earning a 47-43 win on the road at W.F. West.

The Wolves trailed by seven after the first quarter, but roared back to take a four-point lead into halftime before extending that lead to eight heading into the fourth.

W.F. West stayed within striking distance, but wasn’t able to bridge the gap and lost its second straight league game.

Peyton Faught led Black Hills with 20 points, while James Morgan scored 15. The Morrill brothers, Talon and Quinton, combined for 11.

Weston Potter led the Bearcats with a 14-point, 10-rebound double-double, while Carlos Vallejo scored 13 points and hauled in seven rebounds. Grady Westlund scored six points, and Gage Brumfield scored five points and tallied five rebounds.

W.F. West (4-7, 0-2 2A EvCo) will host Hockinson in a non-league game on Monday before hosting Aberdeen in a league matchup on Tuesday. Black Hills (7-5, 2-0 2A EvCo) will host Tumwater in a boys-girls doubleheader on Tuesday.
