The Centralia boys basketball team had an upset on its mind Wednesday night in Thurston County, but Black Hills found what it needed in the locker room to turn things on in time to come back and roll to a 51-36 win in 2A EvCo action.
The Wolves (8-6, 4-2 2A EvCo) managed just six points in the first quarter and eight in the second, and the Tigers (3-11, 1-5 2A EvCo) took advantage to go into halftime up by nine, 23-14.
But out of the half, Black Hills went on a 14-2 run in the third quarter — only giving up a pair of free throws — to completely erase the deficit and take a lead of its own, and then sealed things with a 23-point quarter in the fourth.
Simon Nysted, who managed just four points in the first half, scored 17 in the second to finish with a game-high 21, drilling three 3-pointers in the latter two quarters. Talon Morrill added 11 points for the Wolves.
Cohen Ballard led Centralia with 17 points, and Landon Jenkins had 11.
Black Hills gets right back to the hardwood Thursday against Aberdeen, while Centralia will be off for the rest of the week.
