Washington State Patrol detectives are looking for witnesses to a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred on state Route 6 west of Chehalis Thursday, Dec. 4, 2025.

That morning, at about 7:15 a.m., a white 2021 BMW 5-series was traveling eastbound on the highway near milepost 49 when a red Peterbilt semi-truck towing double trailers “loaded with hay” turned left onto the highway from the Chevron parking lot, according to the state patrol.

The two vehicles collided.

The driver of the BMW, Gordon E. Johns, a 77-year-old Chehalis man, was declared dead at the scene.

The driver of the semi-truck, Eric M. Stanton, 41, of Longview, was reportedly uninjured.

At the time, troopers indicated no drugs or alcohol were involved in the collision, but said the cause of the crash was under investigation.

That remains the case two months later, as the state patrol has asked any witnesses with information to contact Detective Evan Clark at evan.clark@wsp.wa.gov.
