Winlock senior Chase Trodahl opened his season with a win Saturday, taking first in the boys 5,000-meter race at the Ocosta Invitational.
Trodahl covered the course in 19:26, beating out Hoquiam freshman Ryker Maxfield by 24 seconds in a field of 41 runners.
Joining the Cardinals in the 11-team field were Onalaska, Mossyrock, and Napavine. The Loggers put two runners in the top five with Isaac Fitch (20:37) finishing third and Conner Blair (20:44) taking fourth, while Cole Russon (6th, 21:18), Taden Miller (8th, 22:12), and Riley Carter (9th, 22:34) rounded out a team card that took the team title easily.
On the girls’ side, Onalaska’s Melissa Reiman took second in 24:14 — three minutes behind Hoquiam’s Jane Roloff — while Mossyrock sophomore Joan Wedam was third at 24:37.
Winlock’s Victoria Sancho (30:18) and Natalie Cardenas Hernandez (30:20) were eighth and ninth, respectively.
Ethan Wedam was the top Mossyrock boys runner, taking 13th in 23:11. Landon Engelberston, the only Napavine runner on the course, was 16th with a time of 23:40.
