The Winlock Egg Days festival will begin June 19 and last until June 22.
The Egg Days festival first began on Aug. 13, 1921, when a road between Winlock and Cowlitz Corner was completed.
A big celebration was held commemorating the event, and the name "Winlock Poultry and Egg Day" was decided. There were about 1,000 people present at the celebration, and Otis Roundtree was the general chairman. After the celebration, it was decided to make it an annual event.
This year’s grand marshal is Carol A. Wallin. Born in Winlock on Aug. 24, 1949, Carol graduated from Winlock High School in 1957 and became the Queen of Egg Day in 1967. With no intention to move from the place her roots run deep, Carol has been involved in many Winlock groups and organizations over the years, always promoting positive thinking and laughter.
“Volunteering anywhere is a boost to your self esteem and your outlook on life!” Carol said.
