Whether it be the voters’ pamphlet sitting on his coffee table, the mail, the photos of his family that hang on his walls, or his driver’s license, Winlock Mayor Brandon Svenson stood in his living room Thursday afternoon and pointed to evidence that he does live where he says he does.
“Honestly, I’m kind of at a loss for words,” Svenson said.
What had Svenson at a loss for words this week were allegations published in a weekly, Winlock-based mailer that alluded to Svenson potentially living outside of city limits. A front-page editorial cited “rumors.”
Svenson said he was not asked by the author before publication whether he lives in Winlock.
Svenson said while he maintains his Winlock address and receives mail, pays utilities and parks his car there, he will often spend the night at his girlfriend’s house, located just outside of city limits.
“That’s the big story,” he said.
Svenson was elected to his current term in the 2021 election. He also serves as the chair of the Lewis County Republican Party.
