Winlock Mayor Brandon Svenson trails challenger Victoria Marincin in preliminary election results

Voters also choosing new councils in other South and West Lewis County communities

Residents in South Lewis County communities cast their ballots alongside tens of millions of other voters nationwide today, with a mayoral race in Winlock along with councilor races in Winlock, Vader, Napavine and Toledo. 

Candidates were also on the ballot in West Lewis County with two running for two separate councilor positions in Pe Ell. 

What follows are preliminary results released on the Lewis County Auditor’s Office Elections Department website at 8:02 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4 — with 14,979 ballots counted so far and an estimated 1,204 ballots left to count. 

The next ballot count is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 5, at 5 p.m., with results due to be certified by Nov. 25. 

Out of a total of 58,927 registered voters in the county, voter turnout was estimated at 25.42%

Winlock

In the race for mayor of Winlock, incumbent Mayor Brandon Svenson trailed challenger Victoria Marincin, receiving 137 votes to Marincin’s 246 votes — or 35.58% to 63.9% — and two votes for write-in candidates. 

In the race for Winlock City Council Position 4, incumbent Councilor Jeramy Allman trailed challenger Thomas Robinson, with 127 votes to Robinson’s 200 votes — or 38.37% to 60.42% — with four votes for write-in candidates. 

Alishia Hornburg was running unopposed for Winlock City Council Position 5, and received 263 votes to 27 votes for write-in candidates. 

Vader

In the race for Vader City Council Position 3, recently appointed Councilor Nicole Hansen led challenger T L Nicole Emanuel, receiving 68 votes to Emanuel’s 28 votes — or 70.83% to 29.17% — with no votes for write-in candidates. 



Incumbent Councilor John Hurt ran unopposed to retain Position 1 along with fellow incumbent Councilor Jason Dailey, with Hurt garnering 82 votes to five votes for write-in candidates, and Dailey getting 79 votes to six votes for write-in candidates. 

Napavine

In a close race for Napavine City Councilor Position 1, incumbent Councilor Brian Watson led challenger Luis Manzo, with 151 votes to Manzo’s 149 votes — or 50% to 49.34% — with two votes for write-in candidates. Watson also works as the executive regional sales manager for The Chronicle.

Incumbent Councilor Ivan Wiediger ran unopposed to retain Napavine City Council Position 2, while candidate Jeremy Germann ran unopposed for Napavine City Council Position 4 after incumbent Councilor Heather Stewart chose not to seek re-election.

Wiediger received 208 votes to 13 votes for write-in candidates, while Germann got 210 votes to nine for write-in candidates. 

Toledo

In Toledo, Dan Anderson ran unopposed for Toledo City Council Position 2 after incumbent Councilor and Mayor Pro Tem Eric Hayes decided not to run for re-election. Anderson received 125 votes to two votes for write-in candidates. 

Pe Ell 

Over in West Lewis County, incumbent Councilor Michael Nichols was running unopposed to retain his Pe Ell Town Council Position 1, with incumbent Councilor Tauna Fiedler also running to retain Pe Ell Town Council Position 2. 

Nichols had received 59 votes to five votes for write-in candidates, while Fiedler garnered 60 votes to four votes for write-in candidates.
