A Winlock family is seeking community support after their house burned down on Monday.

Firefighters were dispatched to the home on Highway 603 in Winlock at approximately 7 p.m. on April 15, according to Lewis County 911 Communications call logs.

The five-member Goaring family, a live-in caregiver, three dogs and three cats were reportedly in the home when the fire broke out.

“Everyone made it out safe except one of the dogs and one of the cats,” a Winlock community member posted in an online fundraiser. “The whole family is displaced and now homeless. The property that the house is on has no power and no water. They are staying at (their) family’s house until they can figure something else out.”

Nothing in the house was salvageable, according to the fundraiser.

“This family has gone (through) an extreme amount of bad luck over the last year, and they are asking for community support to help them gain some good luck again,” the fundraiser organizer wrote.
