State tournament brackets for baseball, fastpitch, and boys soccer were revealed on Sunday, and several area teams now know who they’ll be facing off against in the first round of state.
W.F. West is the highest-seeded area baseball team, as the Bearcats earned the No. 4 seed in the 2A State Baseball Tournament. As a result, the Bearcats will face No. 13 Chief Sealth in the Opening Round at home on Saturday, and the winner of that game will play either No. 12 R.A. Long or No. 5 Othello later that day for a spot in the semifinals.
Tumwater earned the No. 6 seed, and the T-Birds will head to Selah. They’ll face No. 11 Port Angeles, and the winner will face either No. 14 Cedarcrest or No. 3 Selah for a spot in the semis.
In the 2Bs, Adna’s loss in the district title game proved costly, as the Pirates just missed out on a top-four seed.
The Pirates will be the five seed, and they’ll face No. 12 River View in Asotin on Saturday. The winner will face either No. 13 Okanogan or No. 4 Asotin for that semifinal spot.
Napavine earned the 10 seed and will head to Freeman, the two seed, for its regional, and the Tigers will face No. 7 Liberty Bell. The winner will either get Freeman or No. 15 Warden.
Toledo is right behind Napavine at No. 11, and the Riverhawks will head to Ilwaco. Toledo will play No. 6 Jenkins, and the winner will get either No. 14 Friday Harbor or the three-seeded Fishermen in a quarterfinal.
In softball, Tumwater earned the No. 1 seed in the 2A softball bracket, and the T-Birds will face No. 16 Nathan Hale in the first round of the tournament at Carlon Park in Selah on Friday.
Rochester is the seven seed in the 1A bracket, and the Warriors will take on No. 10 Cashmere in a loser-out Opening Round game on Thursday at the Columbia Playfields in Richland. The winner will advance to the double-elimination portion of the tournament and play No. 2 Royal in a quarterfinal on Friday.
District 4 is well-represented near the top of the 2B Tournament. Freeman earned the No. 1 overall seed, but Pe Ell-Willapa Valley, Adna, and Raymond-South Bend earned seeds two through four.
PWV will take on No. 15 Colfax and No. 3 Adna will face Warden in a rematch of the 2024 state title game. No. 11 Napavine will face Kittitas, and No. 12 Toledo will face No. 5 Liberty. All of the 2B games start on Friday at the Gateway Sports Complex in Yakima.
On the pitch, Tumwater and W.F. West are the 13 and 15 seeds, respectively. The T-Birds will face No. 4 Archbishop Murphy, and the Bearcats will face No. 2 Sehome. Exact locations and times of those games have not yet been announced, but they will take place on either Tuesday or Wednesday.
Same goes for Rochester, who is the 19 seed in the 1A Tournament. The Warriors will head to Highland for an Opening Round matchup, and the winner of that will take on No. 3 Columbia in the Round of 16 on either Thursday or Friday.
This article will be updated with specific times and locations when they are available.
