W.F. West wins first Swamp Cup bowling match of season

The W.F. West bowling team came away with a win over Centralia in the first Swamp Cup meeting of the season, winning 2,172-1,727.

The Bearcats were led by leadoff bowler Brianna Munsell, who impressed with games of 224 and 213 for an average of 218 on the night.

Mack Zuber followed with a 181 average, Sable Bunker wasn’t far behind at 178, and Ali Smitherman added a 174.

As a team, W.F. West finished with an average of 183.6.

Makenna Horst led the Tigers with an average of 168.



W.F. West coach Rich Bunker said he was extremely happy about his group’s effort, especially from his starting lineup that includes two juniors, two sophomores, and a freshman.

“We started really slow this year,” Bunker said. “But we are getting better every week and we are very excited to see how far we can go.

Next up for the Bearcats is a trip south to Hazel Bell Lanes in Vancouver on Monday, when they will take on Hudson’s Bay, the reigning 2A state champions.

Centralia is back on Tuesday at home against Shelton.
