The W.F. West girls basketball team won its 11th straight game on Tuesday, defeating Shelton on the road 69-37.

The Bearcats came out of the gates firing on all cylinders, outscoring Shelton 19-2 in the first and pushing their lead to 31 by halftime.

“The ability we had to share the ball in the first half is what helped us bump that lead up,” W.F. West coach Kyle Karnofski said.

Dilyn Boeck led the way with 21 points, while Rhylee Beebe had one of her best games of the season with 16.

“Rhylee did a really good job giving us a good spark,” Karnofski said. “I’m proud of how she played.”

Kaitlyn Chloupek and Julia Dalan both added 10, while Grace Simpson scored four. Amanda Bennett and Madi Baine both added three, and Izzy Teeter had two.

“We had to weather a storm in the third quarter, but I’m proud of the girls to still push and still dictate stuff,” Karnofski said. “It was cool to see us have some fight that late in the game.”

The win leaves the Bearcats (19-1, 9-0 2A EvCo) just one win away from their second perfect league season in a row.

It’s a milestone that Karnofski hasn’t shied away from over the course of the last two seasons, and he noted that it would be a great way for the team's four seniors — Ellie Clinton, Dalan, Simpson, and Bennett — to go out.

“They’re excited,” Karnofski said. “These four girls have been a part of our program for a long time. This is a special group. That’s pretty cool for them.”

W.F. West will host Centralia in its regular season finale on Thursday before turning its attention to the district tournament, which begins next Friday, Feb. 14.
