The W.F. West boys basketball team got back to .500 in league play on Thursday, defeating Shelton on the road 49-32.

The Bearcats jumped out of the gate fast, scoring 21 points in the first quarter to take a 13-point lead, and they pushed their lead to 17 by halftime. That was more than enough, even after an even second half where both teams scored 19.

Weston Potter hit four threes and finished the night with 14 points, while Gage Brumfield and Grady Westlund both added nine points.

Carlos Vallejo scored eight, and Fox Rogerson tallied six. Hayden Rooney and Wyatt Hoffman combined for three more, and Ross Kelley dished out four assists.

W.F. West (6-8, 2-2 2A EvCo) will head south to take on Kelso at the MLK Classic at Lower Columbia College on Monday before returning to league play at home on Wednesday in the Swamp Cup against Centralia.
