The W.F. West baseball team got back in the win column in its regular-season finale on Thursday, topping Aberdeen at home 7-5.

Runs came early and often, as the two teams were tied at two after two, and the Bearcats scored five runs across the next two frames to take a 7-2 lead after four.

Aberdeen scored once in the fifth and twice in the seventh to rally back within two, but the potential tying never reached base.

Miles Martin went a perfect 3 for 3 with a double and two runs batted in, while Jax Potter added two hits and drove in three runs.

Hiroto Smaciarz added a hit and an RBI of his own, and Wyatt Hoffman collected two hits and got the final two outs on the bump.

Hudson McCallum pitched the first four innings, allowing two hits and two runs while walking two and striking out two, and Hayden Rooney struck out five and allowed one hit and one run in two innings of relief.

W.F. West (18-3, 13-2 2A EvCo) will enter the 2A District 4 Tournament as the EvCo's No. 2 seed. The Bearcats will host the GSHL’s No. 3 seed, R.A. Long, at home on Tuesday in a district quarterfinal.
