The W.F. West bowling team continued its winning streak on Tuesday, defeating Aberdeen 1,934-1,295 at Fairway Lanes.
With the win, the Bearcats finish the first half of their Evergreen Conference unbeaten, and they sit alone in first place.
Leading the Bearcats Tuesday was Savanna Hoyt-Siler, who averaged 184 for the night with great support from Emma Hamilton, who averaged 171, and August Isenhower, who chipped in by averaging 168.
“Aberdeen has several great athletes with rifle arms,” W.F. West coach Rich Bunker said. “If they all get hot at the same time, watch out. This was a good win, but the best part was we were able to get several of our younger bowlers some varsity time. I think they did great. The future is bright.”
The Bearcats are atop the EvCo standings thanks to their 2,108-1,950 win over Rochester last Thursday.
The Warriors gave the Bearcats all they could handle in what turned out to be a classic match-up.
“This was one of the most competitive and fun matches we’ve ever been in, and it was a blast,” Bunker said. “Both teams bowled really well and the sportsmanship by both teams was over the top. The girls practice next to each other every day, and many bowl Junior League together, so there are no strangers here.”
The top bowler was W.F. West’s Aly Weins, who Bunker called “Steady Eddie.”
She averaged 211 on the day, including a personal best of 243. The ‘Cats were also led by Lexi Delisle and Emma Hamilton, who both averaged 169 pins. Hoyt-Siler averaged 199 after shooting a 223.
Rochester’s Taylor Staley and Kailyn Black led the Warriors by averaging 184 and 181, respectively, followed by Kaysee Smith, who averaged 169.
Next up for the Bearcats is a matchup against Black Hills on Thursday at Fairway Lanes.
