W.F. West drops non-league contest to Clarkston

The Bearcats were on the wrong side of a fourth quarter scoring output, going cold for four minutes and seeing the Bantams pull away and pick up an 84-56 statement victory on Friday night in Clarkston.

Down by five at one point in the second quarter and eight a couple times in the third, W.F. West never got within striking distance and dropped its first game of the season. Dilyn Boeck led the scoring with 25 points while Joy Cushman added 13.

Bearcats head coach Kyle Karnofski credited Madi McManus for a spark off the bench, yet they never generated a long spark to mount a comeback.

“We want to play these types of teams to challenge ourselves,” Karnofski stated. “It is good to see where we’re at. We’re still learning and growing.”

W.F. West will stay out east when it battles Selah in a Saturday afternoon showdown.
