Goals came early and often in Chehalis on Tuesday night, where W.F. West cruised to a 7-0 victory over Shelton in an EvCo matchup.

Izzy Teeter opened the scoring in the 10th minute of the game, and she scored again just five minutes later to double the advantage.

Mirabel Burger scored on a penalty kick just three minutes after that, and she scored two more goals, including a free kick from around 35-40 yards out, before the halftime break to put W.F. West up 5-0.

In the second half, Greta Oien scored in the 49th minute, and Taylor Tobin found the back of the net in the 57th.

It was a welcome offensive explosion for the Bearcats and W.F. West coach Kevin Schultz, who last week mentioned how they had been struggling to capitalize on chances in some of their recent games.

“I thought we moved the ball really well and created a lot of chances, and the finishing was a lot better,” Schultz said. “Yesterday in training, we did a lot of finishing games and a we put a lot of work in on finishing, and it was good to see that come out in the game.”

In addition to her hat trick, Burger added an assist, and Sable Bunker, Oien, Tanner Tonin, and Teeter also logged an assist each. Bunker also drew the foul that led to Burger’s penalty kick in the first half.

Schultz said he was happy to see the midfield get involved in the offensive opportunities, and he also said it was nice to get 20 players onto the field over the course of the game.

W.F. West (11-0-4, 6-0-2 2A EvCo) will head to Tiger Stadium in Centralia on Thursday for the Chronicle Cup.
