The last of six errors by the Bearcats ended up being the dagger and the Bobcats came away with a 3-2 triumph at home to stay tied with Tumwater atop the Evergreen Conference standings on Wednesday afternoon.
W.F. West (7-5, 4-3 EvCo) now sit two games back for first and only a game up on Black Hills for third. It only recorded two hits, but one of them came in the first on Karlee Coleman’s two-run home run in the top of the first to jump out ahead.
Gracie Elam had the other hit and the Bearcats stranded the go-ahead run at third in the sixth plus two on base in the seventh. They went down in order four times and struck out 13 times against Aberdeen’s Lilly Camp.
Still, head coach Kevin Zylstra didn’t leave displeased with the at-bats.
“She was going to get her strikeouts. Did a much better job adjusting,” he said. “I loved the intensity we came out with.”
W.F. West will face Centralia on Friday at home, attempting to avenge a 3-2 loss nearly a month ago.
