W.F. West senior Danny Chalmers had an impressive showing at the Team USA Trials in January, and as a result, he claimed one of four automatic spots on Junior Team USA.

Chalmers finished 14th overall at the trials in Las Vegas, becoming the sixth male bowler from Washington to earn a spot on the junior national team.

In his junior bowling league, the Junior Bowlers Tour, Chalmers is currently averaging 235 pins per game, and he has won a multitude of youth scratch titles. In addition, he has also been named the Pacific Northwest’s Scratch Bowler of the Year twice.

Chalmers will continue to prepare over the coming months in hopes of earning a spot on the national travel team, which is heading to Malaysia in the summer.

In addition to competing in tournaments across the country, Chalmers also bowls in leagues at Fairway Lanes in Centralia and at Triangle Bowl in Longview.

After graduation, he will attend a team camp in July, and next fall, he will bowl for the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in Savannah, Georgia. SCAD is one of the best NAIA bowling programs in the country, and it recently ranked No. 5 in the latest NAIA poll.
