West Thurston Fire contains residential flames with ‘offensive fire attack’

West Thurston Regional Fire Authority responded to and contained a structure fire on 187th Avenue Southwest at about 10:15 a.m. March 1, according to a news release from the agency.

“Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from the attic space of the residence,” the release stated. “Firefighters immediately initiated an offensive fire attack.”

Mutual aid included personnel from Tumwater Fire, South Thurston Fire, East Olympia Fire District 6, Grays Harbor Fire District 1, Oakville Fire, Riverside Fire & Rescue and the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office, according to the agency.



“West Thurston crews, assisted by several mutual aid agencies, worked diligently to contain the fire,” the release stated. “All occupants were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported.”

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
