Wesley and Barbara Mielitz celebrate 66 years of marriage

Wesley and Barbara Mielitz are celebrating 66 wonderful years of marriage, according to an anniversary announcement submitted by their family.

“It all started at Wesley’s sister's house where he heard the most beautiful piano music from the next room,” the announcement states. “Curious, he walked in and saw the prettiest girl he had ever seen — Barbara playing the piano. He sat quietly and listened as she played two songs, and in that moment, he was smitten. Not long after, he called her and asked her out on a date. One year later, they were married, beginning a life filled with love.”

The couple were married April 5, 1959, in Ortonville, Minnesota, where they lived until moving to Centralia in 1966.

Together, they have raised four children: Kary Mielitz, Vicki Mielitz, Suzanne Mitchell and Rebecca Troglin.

They are proud grandparents of 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

“Here’s to 66 years of countless memories and an enduring love that inspires us all,” the family wrote in the anniversary announcement.
