After nearly three years of planning, Wellspring Centralia is celebrating the opening of its assisted living and memory care facility with a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony, according to the Centralia-Chehalis Chamber of Commerce.
The ceremony takes place at noon on Thursday, Feb. 29, at 1215 S. Tower Ave. in Centralia, just a block north of Centralia Christian School. The public is invited to attend and stay to tour the newly renovated facility.
Owners Alvin and Tina Wong began conceptualizing the renovation in early 2020. While the building has been around for many years, the Wongs have fully renovated the facility inside and out. Their experienced staff is headed by Administrator Kari Sutherland, who has strong local ties with nearly a decade experience in managing similar facilities. The staff is all local and dedicated to creating the best care possible, according to the chamber. They include Director of Nursing DeNage Cagle, Kitchen Manager Erica Jimenez and Administrative Assistant Monica Jimenez.
“There is a great history to this building, which has been serving the community a long time,” Alvin Wong said. “Our goal is to revitalize this space.”
Alvin Wong said the building has been reimagined to serve 22 memory care residents with fully furnished rooms. Wellspring also boasts a brand-new kitchen and a fully remodeled interior that includes private rooms for families to gather during visits. An Airbnb-style residence is also available for out-of-town guests to reserve for visiting during hospice or special occasions.
“The ribbon cutting is our opportunity to reintroduce people to the facility,” Alvin Wong said.
He added that “our neighbors and the city have been supportive.”
