A day into the two-day District 4 boys golf tournament, Centralia’s Von Wasson sits in second place out of 78 golfers at Orchard Hills Golf Club in Washougal.
Wasson shot an even-par 70, finishing a shot under on the par-34 front nine and a shot over on the par-36 back nine.
Columbia River’s Jack Kendrick leads Wasson by a shot, coming in at 1-under 69. Fellow Rapid Noah Larson is third at 74, followed by Woodland’s Dane Huddleston.
Forty-five golfers advanced to the second day of the tournament, with the cut landing at 97.
Making that mark are 11 local golfers, including Wasson.
Tumwater got a quintet of T-Birds through, with Gabe Johnston leading the way at 82, both Braeden Konrad and Nolan Campbell both carding 84’s, Kaden Clark finishing at 89, and Reagan Broome shooting a 93.
W.F. West’s Ben Halverstadt shot an 85 to advance, Braden Jones carded a 94, and Weston Potter made it with a 95.
For Black Hills, Luke Fenner carded an 80, and Jack Casler made it just under the cut at 96.
No golfer from Rochester, nor anyone save Wasson from Centralia, made it to Day 2.
