Wasson Earns Match Medalist Honors Again, But Tigers Fall in Harbor

Von Wasson did Von Wasson things once again, earning match medalist yet again at Grays Harbor Country Club Thursday for the Centralia boys golf team against Aberdeen, but the Tigers fell as a team, 222-255.

Wasson carded a 35 to beat the next highest competitor by four strokes to continue his streak of medalist honors. Aberdeen’s Treven Nichols earned the next best score with a 39.

Behind Wasson for Centralia, Brady Sprague carded a 52, Tucker Weaver shot a 54, and Caden Fitzgerald and Tig Hedgers each shot a 57 for the Tigers.

“Von has been great all year, we’re starting to see these scores come down, but we need to get our 50s into the mid-40s before we start winning against teams like Aberdeen,” Tigers coach Hal Gronseth said. “We’re making progress but it's slow progress, we’ll have to take that for now.”

The Tigers will stay on the road next week on Monday for their next match when they head to Alderbrook Golf Course against Shelton.
