The Washington State Fallen Heroes Project, in partnership with Gold Star Families of Washington, has announced the placement of several “Trees of Heroes” installations throughout Washington.
The trees, adorned with photos, serve as a heartfelt tribute to post-9/11 fallen heroes, representing a small but significant portion of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the country, a news release from Washington State Fallen Heroes Project stated.
Longview is hosting a Tree of Heroes, with ornaments celebrating veterans from Aberdeen, Battle Ground, Camas, Centralia, Chehalis, Elma, Hoquiam, Kalama, Lacey, Longview, Montesano, Olympia, Shelton, Vancouver and Yelm.
Residents can help decorate the tree from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25. The tree is located at Ashtown Brewing, 1145 11th Ave., Longview.
Ashtown Brewing has food and drink available for purchase as well.
The trees will be on display throughout the holiday season, providing a place for reflection and remembrance.
Event organizers encourage the public to visit these sites, pay their respects, and support the families who continue to carry the memory of their loved ones.
“We are deeply honored to collaborate with Gold Star Families of Washington to continue the Trees of Heroes project in our communities,” Keirsten Lyons, director of Washington State Fallen Heroes Project, said in a news release. “This initiative is a powerful reminder of the courage and sacrifice of our service members and their families. We hope these trees inspire everyone to reflect on the true meaning of service and sacrifice.”
