The Rochester boys soccer team earned a solid league win on Tuesday, taking down Elma at home 2-0.

“Elma is a tough team,” Rochester coach Matt Ashton said. “We were able to defensively hold them in and able to control of them getting the middle of the field. Big shoutout to them to get the clean sheet.”

Christian Acahua opened the scoring in the 20th minute, converting off a free kick taken by keeper Ezra Aliff.

The second goal was a beautiful strike, as Nansok Johnson rifled a pass from Aiden Villanueva into the back of the net.

Aliff kept the Eagles off the board with a stellar diving save in the second half, one that erased Elma’s best scoring chance of the night.

Rochester (1-1, 1-1 1A Evergreen) will hit the road for the first time this season on Thursday, when it’ll face Chief Leschi.
