Warriors pull away for win over Cardinals

The Rochester girls basketball team stifled Winlock on Friday, allowing fewer than 10 points in each quarter en route to a 56-27 win over Winlock.

The Cardinals (2-7, 1-3 C2BL) played well in the first, but the Warriors (7-3, 2-2 2A EvCo) quickly pulled away in the second and took a 17-point lead into the locker room.

The Warrior offense continued to roll in the third, as they scored 21 and extended their lead to 32.

Grace Hoover led Rochester with 16 points, while Mandy Andree Cordell scored nine and Kenna Pratt added eight.

For Winlock, Natalie Cardenas led the way with 12 points and tallied seven rebounds and three steals, while Kindyl Kelly recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Kelly was also stout defensively, tallying six steals.

The Cardinals are back on the floor on Saturday at Concrete, while the Warriors will host Black Hills in a league game on Wednesday.
