Warriors cap sweep of Beavers with another blowout win

The Rochester softball team earned its second dominant win in as many games on Thursday, beating Tenino 21-2 to complete the two-game sweep.

The Warriors got off to a much quicker start on Thursday, scoring six in the bottom of the first to take the lead after Tenino’s Kate Burkhardt led off the game with a home run to get Tenino on the board in the top half.

After a scoreless second, Rochester posted 14 runs in the bottom of the third.

Layna Demers struck out nine in three and two-thirds innings in the circle, and she also went 3 for 3 at the plate with two doubles and six runs batted in.

Cheyenne Justice went 4 for 4, drove in a run, and scored four more, and Mckenna Vassar went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs.

Burkhardt finished 1 for 3 with her solo shot, while Macie Scharber went 1 for 2 and drove in the Beavers’ other run.

Rochester (2-1, 2-0 1A Evergreen) and Tenino (0-5, 0-2 1A Evergreen) will both return on Friday. The Warriors will host Kalama, and the Beavers will host Castle Rock.
