Warriors Blanked By Bobcats

Still running a bit undermanned, the Rochester boys soccer team couldn't quite keep up with Aberdeen’s depth in a 2-0 loss in 2A EvCo play.

“We’re getting better every game,” Rochester coach Matt Ashton said. “Each game is getting closer, that’s the positive part.”

Rochester came to play with 13 Warriors, only having subs available because of JV call-ups.

The Bobcats broke the deadlock in the 34th minute, capitalizing on a scrum in the box after Rochester couldn’t clear a corner kick. That sent the game into halftime at 1-0, and the guests doubled their lead in the 60th minute.

It could have been worse, if not for a solid outing between the sticks by Ezra Aliff.

“He was under a lot of pressure tonight and made a lot of spectacular saves, and really kept us in the game,” Ashton said.

Rochester is set to take on Shelton next Saturday, looking to get some momentum going.

“The ball’s going to get in the net sooner or later,” Ashton said. “And when it does, we’ll be on a roll.”
