Two people accused of stealing money from an elderly Chehalis woman last year are now wanted on warrants connected with the case.

Kathryn George, 53, of Rochester and Jack George, 55, of University Place, were accused of befriending a 91-year-old Chehalis woman and offering to fix her car and remodel her residence. The woman paid the Georges for their work for the first time on Nov. 3, 2018, and the Georges had reportedly promised to finish the work by that Christmas.

The alleged victim reported the Georges to law enforcement in January 2019 after paying them approximately $50,000 for shoddy or nonexistent work.

Jack George also allegedly had the woman buy him a truck and said he’d pay her back but never did.

Kathryn and Jack George were originally charged in connection with the case in June. A $60,0000 arrest warrant was issued for Jack George, charged with first- and second-degree theft, after he failed to appear for a hearing on June 28, and that warrant will remain outstanding after Wednesday’s failure to appear, according to court documents.

Kathryn George was also charged in June, but her charges were dismissed without prejudice, meaning they could be re-filed, on June 27.

The Lewis County Prosecutors refiled charges of first- and second-degree theft against Kathryn George on Aug. 23. Both Georges were summoned to new first appearances on the charges at 4 p.m. Wednesday, but failed to appear.

In addition to Jack George’s outstanding arrest warrant, a $10,000 arrest warrant was issued for Kathryn George.
