The Veterans Memorial Museum is preparing to host its sixth annual Trunks With Treats event on Thursday, Oct. 30, starting at 6 p.m.
The popular event features dozens of cars handing out candy. It draws throngs of families, with attendees numbering in the thousands, many in their best Halloween costumes.
The Veterans Memorial Museum is located at 100 SW Veterans Way in Chehalis.
Trick-or-treaters planning to attend will be getting plenty of candy to go home with, too, thanks to a donation from the Walmart Supercenter in Chehalis.
“Huge thanks to Walmart Chehalis for donating not one, not two, not three, but FOUR pallets of candy — that is nearly 2,300 pounds of candy,” the museum stated on Facebook.
Along with the candy, Two Brewnettes Espresso & Tap Trailer will be on hand during the event to keep parents energized with caffeine. Hot dogs will also be available.
Throughout the days leading up to the event, up until Oct. 28, Two Brewnettes is also running “Operation: Sweet Tooth Candy Drive” to collect candy donations for Trunks With Treats, according to a post on the business’s Facebook page.
“We’re after all the classics: store-bought, individually wrapped treats like chocolates, suckers, taffy and more! No homemade goodies please — even if grandma’s fudge is legendary,” Two Brewnettes stated on Facebook. “For every pound of candy you donate, we’ll match it — POUND FOR POUND! That’s double the goodies for the ghouls and goblins!”
To donate, visit Two Brewnettes between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday at the trailer’s regular location when not booked for a private event, in the parking lot of the Chehalis Moose Lodge at 1400 Grand Ave. in Centralia.
Two Brewnettes Espresso & Tap Trailer is owned by Napavine residents Kayleen Klamn and Nicole Thompson, longtime friends who decided to become their own bosses and run their own business. To learn more, read The Chronicle’s business feature on Klamn and Thompson at https://tinyurl.com/3chhkjhr.
