Volunteer Highlight: Lack of sight doesn’t stop Tim Franklin of Love INC of Lewis County

Love In the Name of Christ of Lewis County (Love INC) is highlighting the contributions of volunteer Tim Franklin.

Franklin, a new volunteer at the local nonprofit, is blind.

“We first met Tim when shared his musical ability by playing the guitar for our Super Souper Supper fundraising event last April,” wrote Love INC Executive Director Melodee Bailey. “He also donated two birdhouses for the event that he made.”

The Chronicle has previously published an article on Franklin’s ability to make birdhouses using a table saw and a chop saw.

Bailey said Franklin began volunteering in the Love INC office answering phones a couple of months ago. Love INC has three phone lines. Franklin answers live calls and takes messages for the Connection Center, formerly called the Clearinghouse.

Franklin volunteers from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

“Sometimes he takes the bus and other times a friend will bring him,” Bailey said. “He even volunteered one day for the furniture route. He wanted to meet the lady that he spoke with over the phone who donated furniture for our furniture ministry. Tim loves coffee, Reese's Peanut Butter cups and ‘being able to pray with people.’”

Bailey said those encouraged by Franklin’s story who want to volunteer at Love INC can call 360-748-8611 or email exec.director@loveincoflewiscounty.org.
