A 1979 Datsun pickup truck left the flatbed trailer it was being hauled on and collided with a SUV travelling in the opposite direction on Interstate 5 in Castle Rock Thursday, according to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol (WSP).

Troopers reported no injuries from the collision. The driver hauling the Datsun, Terra F. Poe, 39, of Napavine, was cited following the incident.

According to WSP, Poe was driving a 2026 Chevrolet Silverado northbound at Exit 48 at about 6:15 p.m. Aug. 6 when the Datsun “became separated” from the Silverado’s attached trailer and entered the southbound lanes.

The Datsun struck a 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander driven by Timothy M. Hall, 37, of Ridgefield.

According to the memo, the Datsun came to rest at the gore point of Exit 48. The Outlander came to rest on the left shoulder of the road.

Both the Datsun and the Outlander were totaled in the collision.

WSP said no drugs or alcohol were involved in the incident, and attributed the cause of the collision to speed and an unsecured load.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision, troopers said.
