The Mossyrock girls basketball team did the dirty work on defense Friday, and ground its way to a 44-27 win over Pe Ell in 1B Columbia Valley League play.

The Trojans never cracked double digits in a quarter, only surpassed seven once. Mossyrock finished with 17 steals as a team, led by five from Abbie Lovan and four from Kendall Cournyer.

Delaney Marshall led the Vikings with 13 points and eight rebounds, and also had three steals and two assists.

“She made great decisions with the ball and knocked down shots for big momentum changes,” Mossyrock coach Autumn Moorcroft said.

Karli Phelps had nine points to lead the Trojans, with Peyton Zock coming in behind her on eight.

Mossyrock will host Three Rivers Christian on Monday to open the final week of the regular season, while Pe Ell will head to Naselle.
