The deadline for the Vader May Day Festival’s annual button contest has been extended to Friday, March 15.
“Step right up! Don’t be shy, and dare to let your creativity fly when joining in the 2024 Vader May Day button contest!” organizers said in a news release.
Button design entries must be circus-themed and include the phrases “The circus is coming to town,” “Vader May Day” and “2024.”
The winner will receive a $50 prize, as well as a T-shirt and a button featuring their artwork.
The winning button design will also be used for advertising this year’s May Day Festival and will be featured on T-shirts, buttons and the Vader May Day Festival website.
Designs have a five color limit and should be no bigger than a 7-inch circle on a standard-sized sheet of paper.
Computer-generated, AI-generated or digital artwork will not be accepted.
The image will be shrunk down to fit 1.5-inch and 2-inch buttons, so artists are advised to “be mindful when adding small/fine details.”

All entries must include the artist’s name, email address, phone number and shirt size. Contestants under the age of 18 are asked to disclose their age.
Multiple entries per contestant are allowed.
